People are willing to stand up for environment More than ever climate change is an issue that concerns the whole world. Every country has to deal with it and, most importantly, find a way to fix it. Although you could expect the world’s greatest power to be an example, Donald Trump decided to cancel the Paris climate agreement instead. This matter was even mentioned in Barack Obama’s recent speech for he highlighted how grotesque the situation is. Now, depending on your level of interest, environmental issues can either be something abstract or a real problem. I personally am part of the second group of people for I have sadly seen the direct damages of pollution over nature. Once, I volunteered in Spain to clean some beaches. With a group of six or seven people we would remove one by one the rubbish left on the beaches. And the result was terrifying. The amount of garbage was so huge that we did not have time to be proud of ourselves for removing them: we all understood the gravity of the situation. Yet, this experience left me hoping that raising people’s awareness could actually make a difference. But, how can we expect people to be concerned when their president is rejecting any responsibility on the matter? Well, they actually are. Over the last few weeks, many people gathered all across the United States to protest against Trump’s policies. Despite how blind Donald Trump is about global warming, the Americans are willing to protest against it and show their determination to make things change for good. Along with other huge gatherings all around the world for the “Rise for Climate” movement, in San Francisco a march was held. Among the 30, 000 people gathered, Sheridan Noelani Enomoto, a Native Hawaiian, said to a local newspaper: “The health of the land reflects the health of the people, and right now we’re not in a good place”. Different nationalities and ethnicities led the movement, proving that the cause can unite people from different cultural backgrounds. Everybody is affected by global warming. From California to Texas, they have all experienced the damages of climate change. That is why people stand together. According to the San Francisco Gate, more than 800 demonstrations took place in 90 countries. (Everyone can make a difference. Every small step matters.
